Can I discuss several health concerns in one appointment?
Yes. Let reception know when booking if you have multiple concerns, as you may need a longer appointment.
About the service
General practice is a place to discuss everyday health concerns, new symptoms and your ongoing wellbeing. At Southcare Medical Centre, our focus is on listening to your concerns and helping you understand the next steps in your care.
Whether you are seeking advice about a current concern or looking to discuss your longer-term health, your consultation provides an opportunity to ask questions and explore care suited to your individual needs.
When to book
Book an appointment when you have a non-emergency health concern, would like advice about symptoms, or need to discuss your ongoing health. You can also use a consultation to ask questions about medicines, prevention and your next steps in care.
When booking, let reception know if you have several concerns or expect to need extra time so they can help you arrange a suitable appointment.
What happens at your appointment
Your GP will discuss the reason for your visit and ask about your symptoms, relevant medical history and current medicines. Explain what matters most to you and raise any questions or concerns you would like to address.
Depending on your needs, your GP may discuss an examination, investigations, treatment options or a referral. Before you leave, ask about the next steps, any follow-up required and how you will receive results if tests are arranged.
How to prepare
Bring your Medicare card, if applicable, an up-to-date list of your medicines and details of any allergies. Include non-prescription medicines, vitamins and supplements, along with any relevant specialist letters, test results or hospital discharge information.
Write down your main concerns and questions before your visit. If you have symptoms, note when they started, how they affect you and anything that makes them better or worse. Start with your most important concern so your GP understands your priorities.
