Dr Derrick Coetzee (Practice Principal)

MBCHB, FRACGP

Dr Derrick is a true Generalist, specialising in all fields of General Practice. His specific interests lie in Chronic Disease Management and Procedural work, such as skin cancer excisions and flaps.

Dr Derrick Coetzee was born in South Africa and started his medical career in England in the Emergency Department (ED), followed by another 3 years of ED in Darwin and Cairns.

He started in General Practice in 2000 at Southcare Medical Centre and attained Fellowship (FRACGP) 2003. He later completed additional training in General Practice (NCEPMC) and Skin Cancer Medicine

Dr Derrick loves the outdoors and his hobbies include: remote 4WD, camping, hiking, gardening, exercising, indoor rowing and running. He utilises every opportunity to travel. You can find him swimming in the icy waters of Antarctica or with the piranhas of the Amazon River, dogsled riding in Finland or walking the Great Wall of China. He loves holidays with his family and on rainy days will happily spend time with his wife, watching videos or doing jigsaw puzzles.

He is a big believer in prevention through adopting a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
